Recipe:  Beer Can BBQ Chicken

Recipe: Beer Can BBQ Chicken

Ingredients:

olive oil

1 thawed whole chicken

garlic powder

Lawrys seasoned salt

Red red pepper flakes

1 can of beer (I prefer coors light)

How To:

Take out all the inside of your thawed chicken , rinse with water and blot with a paper towel. Place the chicken on a big plate and massage olive oil all over it. Sprinkle onion powder of the whole bird. Follow with Lawry’s seasoning and then the red pepper flakes. Massage the whole bird to mix the seasoning up and rub it in the outer layer of the skin. Don’t feel like drinking?, just pour half of it out. Place your bird on top of the beer can. Make sure the beer can is directly in side the chicken or it will fall over. Your chicken should be in the sitting position.you can push the drumsticks out a little to create more balance. Let the bird sit while you heat the grill. Heat the grill to 300-350. Once the grill is ready, go back to your chicken and layer it lightly with the same 3 seasonings you did before.  Place the chicken on the grill. It should be sitting up . Again you may need to adjust the drumsticks for balance on you grill. Once your bird is sturdy, close the lid and let cook for 1 1/2- 2  hrs or until desired crispiness. Take off the grill and let sit for a long 5-10 minutes before taking the chicken off the beer can. *Caution , it will be hot. After Beer can in removed, cut and serve!!!

Beer can chicken is like no other chicken. It is so delicious, moist on the inside , while crispy on the outside!!!  The secret of the moistness is it cooks from the inside out by steaming it with the beer. The flavor is insane and it can give you meals for days! Added bonus,whole chickens are cheap! I find them for 99cents and stock up and my fridge. This is one of my favorite recipes to do with a whole chicken. I learned this method growing up in Texas. Could it get any more simple too! A beer and a bird! :) Enjoy!!! Ask Questions! So what can I do to “want” to get out of bed? I chose the beach! You would be surprised just how your eyes naturally widen when the morning sun hits your face, your feet touch the sand and you feel the energy of the waves. Not only will  start your day off amazing and create gorgeous legs but it is a really great and  safe way to get a workout. Jogging in the sand is a lower impact exercise  and can be better for your knees and joints.

Remember fitness is a marathon not a sprint. Start slow. Go down to the hard sand where the waves crash and start jogging. You can always increase your speed but if your a beginner then I recommend starting slow. Once you master the hard sand, your ready to push it up a notch! Go ahead and do your run in the soft sand. Your feet will dig deep in the sand creating a resistance like feel. The soft sand will also make you feel less balanced which is when you just engage your core and focus on balancing while running. So now not only are you getting a great cardio workout, but you’re actually strengthening the joints in your ankles and you will create a love/hate relationship with your legs. Your legs will definitely feel sand workouts as soon as you begin them and crave them if you stop! I cant express enough how much I love jogging in the sand. I feel better because of my natural surroundings, I get in a great workout , and if I get too hot, I can always jump in the ocean! I highly  recommend the ocean dip  to complete my jog. Its just another great reason to get out of bed. Its a win win!! And don’t forget to bring your pooch on allowed beaches. They would love the exercise, smells, and energy of the sea too. Both you and your furry friend will feel great all day long!
