Recharge With a Post-Workout Morning Dip in the Ocean

I know I’ve said this before but I can not express enough just how good the ocean is for you! Here is why…

Recharge With a Post Workout Morning Dip in the Ocean | VitaminBridget.com #fitness #sunshine #beach #cali #california #exercise #inspiration #happy #cowgirl Did you know finishing your workout with a dip in the ocean can reduce inflammation in the body if the water is cold? Are you feeling tight and sore after your morning jog on the sand or beach workout sesh? Jump in!!! You will feel better instantly and your body will thank you.

Besides reducing aches and pains, the salt water can help clear breakouts or acne. It will dry it up faster than most over the counter acne medicines. Why not naturally exfoliate your body while you’re at it? After your workout, jump in the ocean, then run back to the sand and roll around in it so from your neck down until you are completely covered, then go jump back in and with the salt water rinse it off in a circular motion. Living at the beach we call this method “corn dogging”. I don’t know why, just is, and it works. Then there is your hair. People pay high dollar to buy salt water because of the texture it leaves in your hair. After your post-workout dip, wear a shower cap when you shower so you keep the salt water in, and rock beach waves all day long. So now you have reduced muscle inflammation, got a head start on clearing up that horrible blemish, got a full body exfoliation treatment, and awesome hair all for free!  All natural! I say you can’t go wrong! Don’t forget to thank your “beach salon”  and pick up a piece of trash if you see one. Recipe: Beer Can BBQ Chicken

Posted by on Apr 19, 2014 in Eating, Fitness | 1 comment

Ingredients:

olive oil

1 thawed whole chicken

garlic powder

Lawrys seasoned salt

Red red pepper flakes

1 can of beer (I prefer coors light)

How To:

Take out all the inside of your thawed chicken , rinse with water and blot with a paper towel. Place the chicken on a big plate and massage olive oil all over it. Sprinkle onion powder of the whole bird. Follow with Lawry’s seasoning and then the red pepper flakes. Massage the whole bird to mix the seasoning up and rub it in the outer layer of the skin. HEre comes the fun part Recipe: Beer Can BBQ Chicken | VitaminBridget.com #fitness #sunshine #beach #cali #california #exercise #inspiration #happy #cowgirl … grab you beer and drink half of it. Don’t feel like drinking?, just pour half of it out. Place your bird on top of the beer can. Make sure the beer can is directly in side the chicken or it will fall over. Your chicken should be in the sitting position.you can push the drumsticks out a little to create more balance. Let the bird sit while you heat the grill. Heat the grill to 300-350. Once the grill is ready, go back to your chicken and layer it lightly with the same 3 seasonings you did before.  Place the chicken on the grill. It should be sitting up . Again you may need to adjust the drumsticks for balance on you grill. Once your bird is sturdy, close the lid and let cook for 1 1/2- 2  hrs or until desired crispiness. Take off the grill and let sit for a long 5-10 minutes before taking the chicken off the beer can. *Caution , it will be hot. After Beer can in removed, cut and serve!!!

Beer can chicken is like no other chicken. It is so delicious, moist on the inside , while crispy on the outside!!!  The secret of the moistness is it cooks from the inside out by steaming it with the beer. The flavor is insane and it can give you meals for days! Added bonus, whole chickens are cheap! I find them for 99cents and stock up and my fridge. This is one of my favorite recipes to do with a whole chicken. I learned this method growing up in Texas. Could it get any more simple too! A beer and a bird! :) Enjoy!!! Ask Questions! Let me know how it turns out!!! Send pics!

Why Running on the Beach is The Best Way to Wake Up

Rise and Shine and Wake Up Happy!

Why Running on the Beach is The Best Way to Wake Up | VitaminBridget.com #fitness #sunshine #beach #cali #california #exercise #inspiration #happy #cowgirl   Waking up is always hard to do.  Even as a fitness guru getting up for me can be hard. So what can I do to “want” to get out of bed? I chose the beach! You would be surprised just how your eyes naturally widen when the morning sun hits your face, your feet touch the sand and you feel the energy of the waves. Not only will  start your day off amazing and create gorgeous legs but it is a really great and  safe way to get a workout. Jogging in the sand is a lower impact exercise  and can be better for your knees and joints.

Remember fitness is a marathon not a sprint. Start slow. Go down to the hard sand where the waves crash and start jogging. You can always increase your speed but if your a beginner then I recommend starting slow. Once you master the hard sand, your ready to push it up a notch! Go ahead and do your run in the soft sand. Your feet will dig deep in the sand creating a resistance like feel. The soft sand will also make you feel less balanced which is when you just engage your core and focus on balancing while running. So now not only are you getting a great cardio workout, but you’re actually strengthening the joints in your ankles and you will create a love/hate relationship with your legs. Your legs will definitely feel sand workouts as soon as you begin them and crave them if you stop! I cant express enough how much I love jogging in the sand. I feel better because of my natural surroundings, I get in a great workout , and if I get too hot, I can always jump in the ocean! I highly  recommend the ocean dip  to complete my jog. Its just another great reason to get out of bed. Its a win win!! And don’t forget to bring your pooch on allowed beaches. They would love the exercise, smells, and energy of the sea too. Both you and your furry friend will feel great all day long!

Dear Tan Lines, This is Goodbye…

There is a cure for those nasty tan lines!!

Dear Tan Lines, This is Goodbye... | VitaminBridget.com #fitness #sunshine #beach #cali #california #exercise #inspiration #happy #cowgirl

Working out outside can make every workout more enjoyable, but tan lines that you get from your sweat sesh can be such a bummer!  Whether you have an outside job, are an athlete, avid sunbather, or just like to enjoy the outdoors,  the Kona Tanning Spritzer and the Kona Tanning Gradual Tanner will get rid of any unwanted tan lines. Katie Quinn, Co-founder and CEO of Kona Tanning Company, and Bronzer to the Victoria’s Secret Angels, has just shared her tips on how to combat sock tan lines (and any other tan lines, for that matter!).

I know we are all scared of turning orange when using a self tanner but the best part about this product is,

” It looks real – really.  The undertones in the Gradual Tanner were fine-tuned to work wonders on all skin tones.” says Katie.

As an avid spray tanner I can swear by her words. Being outside everyday, I get tan lines even before summer starts – and I don’t know what I would do without these products on my bathroom shelf. They are hands down my go-to products for even skin. You never know when you need to wear that new backless shirt or new cute skirt. Not only does the Gradual Tanner make my skin crazy moisturized, it smells yummy, and brings this natural shine to my skin that no other lotion does. I automatically  feel more beautiful.

“A mild, controlled build of color is best for keeping consistent coverage.  Over a few days, I’m able to gradually build up my feet to match my legs, and at my own pace – in the comfort of my own home” says Katie, and I couldn’t agree more! When time is of the essence and I need a quick fix, I use the Kona Spritzer straight to battle my tan lines. It is like having Katie in your home! I use a cotton ball for small areas to match my tanned skin, or latex gloves to get full body coverage. Whether my tan lines are big or small, the Gradual Tanner and Kona Spritzer fights my tan line battles for me, makes me feel gorgeous, and gives my body a sense of freedom. Kona Tanning Products are Vitamin Bridget approved!
